Seoul Searching - Day Three (May 7, 2012)

To try something new, we skipped Paris Baguette and took our breakfast in Caffe Bene. It was like Starbucks. We ordered different kinds of waffle and drinks. It was quite nice but we still loved Paris Baguette better.

We are then off to Nami island! It is VERY long travel to the most famous island in Seoul. We rode the MTR until the end of the line then rode another train going to Nami Island. The travel to the island is around 2 hours I think.

That is why upon arrival to the island, we took our lunch in a nearby restaurant called, "The most famous grilled chicken." We ordered their best seller and a good authentic korean food. It was so spicy so we need a drink and ordered Soju.

So it was late afternoon when we arrived at the main entrance of Nami Island. Fee is around Php800 only. We then hopped in the boat that looked like a submarine to transfer us to the main island itself for around 15 minutes. We enjoyed the view and the atmosphere. Super relaxing experience.

The island is huge. We looked in the map and there are options of riding a golf cart or bicycle but we decided to walk.  We just look around and enjoyed the beauty of nature.

 

After walking for like an hour, we felt tired and just rested in a bench and ate some take out breads by Patrick and some banana he bought. When we arrived in these tall trees scene, there is actually a prenup happening so we can't really take a good picture.

We also dropped by the famous "Winter Sonata First Kiss" location. But since it is Spring already, we can't really experience the romantic feeling as many says.

 

Anyway, it was just like that. For me, Nami Island is a good place to relax and good place to spend especially for couples because it is such a quiet and peaceful place.

Since we are going to Myeongdong, we left Nami Island at around 4pm. Our travel back was the worst as we are standing in the train for like an hour. Maybe it was the reason that we really got tired so much at the end of the day.

Arriving at Myeongdong, we are craving for a good street food. So we ate whatever we saw first. I really liked the sausage covered with potatoes.

Then we are thinking of a good place to eat dinner. Sadly, we can't find one around because restaurants in Myeongdong are usually fast food and we like to try authentic Korean instead. It took us so long that it is around 9PM when we found a good place at the end of the shopping area.

Since Myeongdong closes around 10PM, the shops are closed when we got back. So we decided to just go back to the hotel and try to come back and buy the things we need the following day. We are definitely coming back because we found bags we want to buy.

We are all so tired, I even cried in the train going back to the hotel. It is the most tiring day of my Korea Trip (or ever in my life). I can't explain the feeling. My legs hurt and my mood is grumpy already.

Ohwell, Nami Island is a must see so I guess all the long travel stress was worth it.

Seoul Searching - Day Two (May 6, 2012)

Day two starts with a heavy breakfast in Paris Baguette of course, our favorite.

We then rode a cab to Lotte World. The most famous theme park in Seoul. It has indoor and outdoor rides plus parades and performances that would really excite you and feel like a kid again. They are giving discount if you are 2 persons so it's better to go with someone. As far as I can remember, entrance fee is only Php1200 if discounted.

Upon entrance, we took pictures and took advantage of the beautiful place.

 

We first explore the indoor rides where we tried a balloon ride to take a glimpse of the whole indoor park and the ice skating rink below. We are so high and I'm afraid of heights. Glad that it's moving slowly.

 

We also watch a performance inside of some dancers that looks like British people.

There is also a train ride that will tour you around the whole Lotte World -  indoor and outdoor. Amazing haha.

 

Then there is a "Sinbad ride" that actually looks like a kid ride. We underestimated it! Turned out to be actually like a jungle log jam of Enchanted Kingdom. We didn't know because it is indoor, we are not prepared of the water!

We also took our lunch inside at Speedy Gonzales. It's their version of Jolibee.

Then we went outside and saw the Magic Castle.

 

Then we decided to try the outdoor rides. We saw Chris, Diwi, and Verlin lining up Ghost House 3D so we joined them. Well after watching it, even kids won't be scared with that. They should change it because it's boring. Patrick even fell asleep. Haha.

Because Chris is the most excited one to ride the "wild" rides, he lined up together with Eric, Pat, and Virlin the Gyro Drop (vertical free fall).

 

Oh my god, I won't even dare to ride that because it might give me heart attack haha. My gosh it was so high and it would drop in just seconds. Every person I looked after riding that is either thrilled or gasping for their breath. Look at their pictures haha.

 

They were not even satisfied with that and tried the Gyro Swing. It is like a taste of being inside the tornado. Gosh. They also tried the Flume Ride, which is like the Anchor's Away of Enchanted Kingdom. Diwi, Katits, and I were just taking their videos and pictures. We are not into riding and not in the mood to join their excitement level haha. So I just posed for picture instead while waiting.

 

After all the thrilling rides and fun-filled experience of Lotte World, we went to Star Avenue at the ground floor of Lotte World where there is a so-called exhibit hall of the most famous K-pop starts in Korea. But we didn't enter because none of us is K-pop addict and there is an entrance fee so we just took pictures outside of it where you can also see Big Bang, Rain, and other K-pop stars' memorabilia.

By around 6pm, we went to Lotte Mart attached to the theme park. It is a grocery where we bought all our pasalubongs. Yeah of course, I am the winner when it comes to hoarding of chocolates and other korean products. Eric and Katits were both winner when it comes to the noodles and korean cookies.

After our grocery, we then say goodbye to Chris and friends and went back to the hotel, eat some korean noodles for dinner, and plan the night.

 We are thinking if we could go to Myeongdong for night shopping. Guess what? We just rest and prepare for Nami island the following day. We are all tired and since Myeongdong closes at 10pm, we might run out of time. So day two is over. We deserve the much needed rest.
