2012 predictions by superstitious groups made people believe “doomsday” is happening this year.
The
New Age movement believes that the bloody-red moon that was seen around
the world last December as the result of the rare lunar eclipse is the
signal for the “2012 phenomenon” where a range of cataclysmic or
transformative events will occur within a year–from the time the total
lunar eclipse happened until December 21, 2012.
2012 is also regarded as the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. Various astronomical alignments and numerological formulae related to this date have been proposed.
On
a positive note, the New Age interpretation of this transition is that
this date marks the start of time in which Earth and its inhabitants may
undergo a physical or spiritual transformation, and that 2012 may mark
the beginning of a new era. But many suggest that the 2012 date marks the end of the world or a similar catastrophe. Scenarios suggested for the end of the world include the arrival of the next solar maximum, or Earth’s collision with a black hole, passing asteroid or a planet called “Nibiru”.
On
the other hand, scholars from various disciplines have dismissed the
idea of such cataclysmic events occurring in 2012. Professional Mayanist
scholars state that predictions of impending doom are not found in any
of the extant classic Maya accounts, and that the idea that the Long
Count calendar “ends” in 2012 misrepresents Maya history and culture.
Astronomers and other scientists have rejected the proposed events as
pseudoscience, stating that they are contradicted by simple astronomical
observations.
Christians, however, believes that there’s indeed what we call “doomsday” or the end of the world
as stated in the Bible but it will come like a “thief in the night” so
no single soul on earth can predict when it is going to happen.

Yeah this 19-year-old from Sunrise, Florida just won the X-Factor USA 2011 season 1. I think she really deserved to win. After singing Listen and I believe I can fly, she really overshadowed Josh and Chris that night. So congratulations and I hope the other finalists will also had a music career especially Chris and Drew. Next stop ~ American Idol on January.

Sweet Meeting: Matamis na Saging and Chocnut
It was revealed that Jolina met drummer Mark Escueta at the studio's canteen.
The couple amusingly recalled how they met and how their friendship began. It all started with "matamis na saging."
Mark narrated, "Nasa canteen kami kung saan yung rehearsal ng show. Unang-una ako sa pila. Isa na lang yung serving ng saging na saba."
Jolina continued, "Na-order na niya [Mark]. 'Ayan favorite ko 'yan.' Yung nagse-serve, para sa kanya. Sabi ko, 'ay di bale na lang.' Last na pala yon. Di na ire-refill yon. Sabi niya [Mark], 'Sige-sige, sa 'yo na lang.' Ako naman, 'ay, thank you' naman."
Jolina's mom shared another amusing story. She reminisced, "Nasa Taiwan kami, naghahanap ako ng Chocnut. Bulong ng bulong ako sa sarili ko. "Saan ko ba hahanapin yung Chocnut dito?" Di ko na papansin si Mark pala nasa gilid ko."
Mark explained, "Nagkataon, may dala ako. Pinagbaon ako ng mommy ko."
It just happened that the drummer and the singer-actress fancied each other.
"Kilala ko si Jolina ano siya, parang icon talaga," says Mark. Jolina also admitted having a crush on Mark at that time. She said "Di ko alam, crush na crush ko siya."
The drummer disclosed, "Pagbalik niya [Jolina] sa Manila, tumuloy yung nasimulan na pagkakaibigan habang tumatagal. Tapos, taga Paranaque ako. Siya, taga-Commonwealth. Ang biyahe ko noon, di rin madali. Di na rin kumpleto ang araw ko kung di ko siya nakausap."
Mark added: "Masaya ako nakikita ko siya. Nakikita ko na papunta na kami na isang araw, na ikakasal kami. Maaga pa lang, doon alam ko na doon kami papunta."
The GMA-7 actress then revealed, "Eto yung gusto kong makasama habang buhay...Etong year na ito, naging maraming adjustment para sa akin. Three years na kami pero ito yung year na ito na maraming adjustment na siya lang nasandalan ko talaga na hindi ako ji-nudge. Di pinababa ang self-esteem ko. Di rin naman ako binobola. Pagmali ko, sinasabi niya. Medyo nagne-negative na ako, pinapakita niya sa akin yung bright side."
Through the years, Mark and Jolina's friendship blossomed into a strong and committed romantic relationship.
Mark's Wedding Proposal
When they reached their three-year mark as a couple, the drummer already envisioned spending the rest of his life with Jolina. He consulted his mom when it came to choosing the engagement ring. He then formally informed Jolina's parents of his intention.
Mark told them, "Gusto kong ipaalam sa inyo, I will ask Jolina's hand for marriage." Jolina's mom was in tears and said, "Matutuwa si Jolina." Jolina's father even told the young man: "Mark, heaven sent ka sa amin. Maiiyak 'yan sa tuwa."
Mark narrated how he proposed to his lady love.
"Nag-propose ako sa kanya [Jolina] sa isang park. Actually park ng village namin. Actually yung ring, nasa akin na. Di lang ako makatiyempo. Tuwing yayayain ko siya lumabas sa park, umuulan. Sa isang gabi, lumabas na yung buwan. Ang ganda ng buwan. Sabi ko, "Tara, punta tayo sa park." Punta kami, kain muna. After, sabi ko, "May surprise ako." Kinuha ko yung scrapbook namin. Naka patong yung scrapbook noong tinignan namin. Di n'ya alam sa dulo, dinagdagan ko yung mga laman. Yung sa first two pages, may sinulat lang akong message. Tapos yung third page, may picture ng kamay ko na naandoon yung singsing. Pagsara ng scrapbook, naandito na yung singsing, hawak ko na yung singsing.
"Tapos, umiiyak na siya. Lumuhod ako sa harap niya, tapos nag-propose ako. Nag-yes siya."
After Jolina read the touching messages from Mark and saw the ring that Mark was holding, she shed tears of joy.

Angola's Leila Lopes was crowned Miss Universe 2011 during the live pageant finale held Monday, September 12, 2011, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This is the first time that Angola has won the Miss Universe title.

When I heard her voice in the "Way Back Home" trailer, it struck me. I actually thought Regine Velasquez is singing that time because they sounded the same. The song "You're my home" is really nice.
Then one time I heard another song in the radio - a revival of Jeremiah's "Kunin mo na ang lahat sa akin." It was flawless. Very dramatic.
Of course, my favorite is her winning song, "Patuloy ang Pangarap". This song is like perfection.
I know she will be the next big thing in the music industry with her talent.
Look what I've found, a so-called guide to watching the Ateneo-La Salle game made the rounds on Facebook. The list which was titled "How to keep your School Spirit (and Sanity) at an Ateneo-La Salle Game" contains 9 tips on how to enjoy "the thrill and experience of blue versus green."
They are as follows:
1. TAKE THE TRAIN. Expect the traffic around the Araneta Center to be heavy and the parking lines long, so it makes a lot of sense to avail of the mass transport system. The Big Dome is located where the MRT and LRT 2 lines converge. After hopping off the train, the coliseum is just a short walk within air-conditioned malls and walkways of Gateway and Farmers Plaza.
2. PARK EARLY. If you do decide to take your own vehicle, come early so you can find a place to park. There are five thousand parking spaces at the Araneta Center and most are just within walking distance such as the Gateway Mall Parking, Manhattan Parkway along General Malvar (beside Aurora Tower), parking areas around Shopwise along Times Square, beside the Farmers Garden and at the Ali Mall Parking Area.
3. SHUN THE SCALPERS. Police detail and Araneta security at the Big Dome will be watching for scalpers with an eagle eye. (No pun intended.) Scalping is illegal and punishable by law. You wouldn’t want to see your face on the nighttime news buying from a scalper. Report any scalping activities to the nearest guard or security detail. Besides, buying from scalpers goes against the values espoused by your schools.
4. DRESS LIGHTLY BUT BE READY FOR THE RAIN. Despite the breeze from the air conditioning, expect the Big Dome to be heated up by high energy from both camps. The lines at the gates will be long so it would be wise to dress light, wear comfortable footwear with just your mobile phone, purse or wallet. Bring just enough cash for that post-game party or mall gimmick. To protect yourself from the rain, wear a light windbreaker…in your school color of course.
5. FILL UP TO KEEP YOUR PEP UP. You will need all the energy you can muster to be heard over the din. Make sure you come early enough to nourish yourself before the game. Food and drinks can be found inside the Big Dome, but if you wish for variety, there are several food chains at the nearby malls to satiate your cravings. Just be sure to come in early.
6. KNOW YOUR GATE BEFOREHAND. Avoid the frustration of queuing for a long time only to find out that you lined up at the wrong gate. For Patron, Lower Box, and Upper A & B ticket holders, ADMU entrance is at the Red Gate; DLSU at the Green Gate. General Admission ticket holders may enter at the Yellow Gate right beside the Ticketnet/Uniprom Office.
7. WAIT FOR THE FIRST GAME TO FINISH. The UAAP is employing the two-ticket system on Saturday, July 16. This simply means that those who watched the first game will be ushered out of the Big Dome so that ticket holders to the second game, Ateneo vs. La Salle can enter. Patiently wait at the designated line after the first game finishes.
8. CHEER BUT DON’T JEER. Having a high dose of school spirit is fine but remember, that this is still a sport. Ergo, don’t go ballistic if your team loses. Hooliganism is so not cool. Besides, the hottie you spot may be from the competing campus.
9. POINT AND SHOOT ONLY, PLEASE! DSLRs and video cameras are not allowed at the Big Dome. Leave the professional shooting to the sports fotogs. Just bring your point and shoot cameras and focus on yelling your lungs out.
Penshoppe Asia Worldwide Communications director Joyce Ramirez confirmed the news yesterday saying the Thai heartthrob has signed an endorsement deal with them. Ramirez added that Maurer will be the new endorser of local clothing brand Penshoppe. She also denied the rumor saying the Thai celebrity will be paired with Kapuso actress Marian Rivera. There is also a rumor saying that Kim Chiu will be working with Mario Maurer when the latter gets here. However, it's not confirmed yet. PRESS STATEMENT of DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman on the Case of the Child "Jan-Jan" Shown in Willing Willie The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) condemns the emotional abuse and humiliation bestowed on a six-year-old child c...ontestant, during the March 12, 2011 episode of the Willing Willie show aired on TV 5. The sequence shows the boy gyrating in a distasteful manner with the audience, including the host (Willie Revillame), manifesting no evidence of concern or alarm for the child. This incident is clearly a violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act and a blatant manifestation of child abuse. The term "child abuse" includes the following acts: "psychological and physical abuse, neglect, cruelty, sexual abuse and emotional maltreatment," and "any act by deeds or words which debases, degrades or demeans the intrinsic worth and dignity of the child as a human being." Putting pressure on children to do acts such as mimicking adult sexy dances, in exchange for a certain amount of money, and at the expense of being laughed at and ridiculed by hundreds of people, clearly traumatizes the child. This is a clear form of child abuse and will not be tolerated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development. The Department has already communicated to ABC Development Communication Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan asking that children should not be allowed to appear in TV shows like Willing Willie, especially those capitalizing on poverty as a source of immediate entertainment. In the formal communication with Mr. Pangilinan, the Department has also rebuked the insensitive actions and remarks of Mr. Revillame. The DSWD will look for the family, determine the effect/impact on the child and from here determine if necessary counseling and/or stress debriefing should be given to the child and his parents to prevent further trauma and abuse, especially with the media hype triggered by this incident.

"Tinira po ako sa Twitter, nung si Jan-Jan, ung bata. Ang ipinakita po, pinutol, inisplice po nila yan, at ipinakita ung umiiyak ung bata. Pinwersa ko daw sumayaw, pinaiyak ko daw, chinild abuse ko ung bata.
